A Capital Time
Today we do Delhi.
Breakfast at the Imperial hotel is a cornucopia of choices-funnily enough I choose masala
dosa-must get the Memsaab to learn how to prepare this.
Our very urbane guide, Surech, picks us up and we drive
around the sites of New and Old Delhi.
Just the 1000 years old
Old Delhi is more like the India we are used to and we are
walked down narrow alleys being constantly hounded by motor bikes and
rickshaws.
Getting ready for Holi
Chilli man
Delhi branch of Super Cheap Autos
We have delicious lunch at a Muslim restaurant which is
strictly not for vegetarians with big hunks of spicy mutton and chicken. We
then visit the big mosque,
Memsaab all frocked up
the Sydney opera house,
a stunning tomb-an early work by the Taj Mahal guy,
and some colonial British government buildings.
These are still being produced
I ask to be taken to a liquor outlet which turns out to be about as big as a spacious phone booth(remember them?) where I purchase a fine bottle of Indian single malt!
Dinner is at the hotel with music supplied by the Harry
Vishnu and Vishnettes in Fishnets.
