Roughing it in the great outdoors

We leave Jodhpur
and drive to Nimaj.
More lessons from the Indian road rule book
  • if you need to overtake and a car is coming towards you, overtake anyway-what could possibly go wrong?
  • if you are gridlocked with buses, cars and motorbikes, you can always expect a cow to join the chaos
  • if a car toots behind you to indicate he is going to overtake, drift over to the right to impede their progress
  • the lines on the road are an indicator for where the centre of your car should be
We arrive at our destination and are told that tonight we will be going bush and sleeping in a tent! we get to our tent by walking 6km(approx.) and scaling a cliff which rivals the north face of the Eiger(without a word of exaggeration).

Our primitive rustic tent

Not even a/c!!!!!!!

Later in the day we we do a bird watching walk accompanied by an American cardiologist who entertains us by constantly passing wind in a feeble attempt to mimic the local bird songs. We have become quite expert at identifying our ornithologial friends of the great sub-continent
Kookaburra

Emu

Cockatoo

Galah

Wallaby

Mr Stinky
At the end of the walk our coolies have supplied us with certain refreshments.

We have dinner with a Dutch couple who abhor Indian food, peas and carrots-no doubt pining for the fine cuisine of their homeland.
Say no more!
