We fortify ourselves
Today we are to tour the Meringue fort above Jodhpur. Our arrogant guide deigns to pick us up and takes us first to see the Maharajah's family funeral home.
Then it is on to the fort itself which turns out to be quite splendid.
We have lunch in a fancy joint which also houses the Maharaja's collection of vintage cars.
After lunch we opt to visit an "antique" dealer where I managed to purchase some genuine ancient artifacts which were only 3 times more than identical pieces found in the local market.
Mr Superior then insisted we needed to go to a fabric shop with absolutely no pressure to buy.........not! This was a pretty uncomfortable experience for all concerned.
Dinner was at a pleasant rooftop restaurant and fortunately we only had 3 near-death experiences getting there.
