We have an early start and we are off with our faithful guide,Param, and driver in the direction of non-dry Rajastan. Our first stop is Modhera to visit the stunning Sun temple and well, 1000 years old, though it doesn't look a day over 900. The temple was covered in representations of some of the 30 million Hindu gods as well as some very naughty sculptures.
Then on to Patan and a visit to the equally stunning stepwell or water storage facility, also 1000 years old.
Then we visited a fascinating weaving facility using an old technique whereby the individual threads are dyed before being woven and then come together to create a design; one sari takes about 4 months to make-the Memsaab has suggested I may wish to take up this style of weaving as part of my retirement plan.
We have a final farewell lunch(not unsurprisingly vegetarian curry) with Param and then we are driven to our palatial digs for the next evening. The staff were somewhat surly and the room was ginormous and spartan.

We settled in for pre dinner crisps and bottled water and then had dinner where we were the sole customers but had great service from the 5 overly attentive wait staff.
